The application and difference between self tapping screws and wooden screws
Self-tapping screws and wooden screws are commonly used types of screws in our daily lives. Although both have the purpose of tightening and connecting, there are differences in their application, installation, and other aspects. Self-tapping screws have a wide range of applications and are often used for connecting metal and wood, such as installing doors and windows, fixing electrical equipment, etc. This type of screw does not require drilling during installation and can be directly twisted into the nail hole or nail mark, saving the trouble of drilling, making its use more convenient and fast. Wooden screws are usually used for fixing and connecting wood, such as building wooden houses, decorating wardrobes, and building furniture. Wooden screws are screws with special threads that can produce significant tensile strength. Unlike self-tapping screws, when installing wooden screws, it is usually necessary to drill pre-drilled holes in the wood to ensure that the nails do not crack when entering the wood. There are several differences between these two types of screws, in addition to the installation methods mentioned above. The diameter of self-tapping screws is larger compared to wooden screws. This is because this type of screw is often used for connecting metal and wood, so it needs sufficient strength to support the weight of the object. Secondly, there are many types of heads for self-tapping screws, such as flat heads, cylindrical heads, semi-circular heads, etc. These different head types can adapt to different application scenarios, for example, in certain situations where nails and object surfaces need to be closely fitted, it is necessary to choose screws with semi-circular heads. Again, wooden screws usually have some slender grooves along the length of the nail, which increase the frictional resistance of the nail to rotate in the material and improve the stability of the connection. In addition, the construction methods of self-tapping screws and wooden screws are also different. Suitable screws and screwdrivers need to be selected before construction to avoid damage. During construction, it is necessary to maintain hand stability and appropriate force to avoid excessive torque that may cause nails to break or loosen. Although self-tapping screws and wooden screws have some similarities in their uses, upon closer examination, it can be found that the two types of screws are designed for connecting different objects, so there is a difference between the two. We need to choose different screws according to the actual situation in daily life to ensure the firmness of the connection. Meanwhile, safety should also be taken into consideration when using screws to avoid accidents.
